Additional Game Rules to know
In addition to the normal, general rules of golf as set forth in the USGA and R&A Rules of Golf published annually each January:
The Legends Game, Arlan's Tuesday game and Matt's Thursday game also include the local rules adopted by the Palm Desert Resort Mens Club Board
November 19, 2019 available here.
By way of EXCEPTION there are local rules that are not in effect for the normal play of Legends, Alran's Tuesday and Matt's Thursday games.
Those exceptions are:
1.) Local Rule #5, "Bush Rule" is not to be considered as applicable as set forth in the local rule.
The "bushes" contemplated by that rule have for the most part been removed. Any ball landing in, or lost in vegetation; be it a bush, a weed, or other "uncultivated" plant will be played under USGA Rule 19 as an "Unplayable Ball". The player may take unplayable ball relief using one of three options set forth in Rule 19.2 as "Relief Options for Unplayable Ball in General Area or on Putting Green", in each case adding one penalty stroke
2.) Local Rule #12, Hole 18 Drop Area. As the Club has generously made provision for a drop area in front of the Silver teeing area; that drop area is NOT CONSIDERED IN PLAY for the Legends, Arlan's Tuesday Game, and Matt's Thursday Game.
3.) Other General Rule additions and notations:
As golf is played under conditions meant to apply uniformly to all players, note that there is NO PROVISION for generally accepted areas of relief other than those areas that are sufficiently marked as areas of relief. Not including planting areas or flower beds treated as ground under repair which need not be marked. Penalty areas remain penalty areas regardless of the state or condition of the temporary red or yellow paint and can usually be determined by stakes.
There is to be no use of unmarked Drop Areas such as near hole 6. Balls lost in the water on hole 6 shall be played as lost or unplayable under the provisions of Rule 17. Relief is taken under provisions described in rule 17.1d, where for one penalty stroke, you may use specific relief options such as stroke- and- distance relief or back-on-the line relief.
